"This Nile cruise exceeded every expectation. The ship was beautiful, the food outstanding, and our Egyptologist guide Hamada was incredible — his knowledge and enthusiasm made every temple visit magical. Watching the sunset over the Nile from the top deck with a cocktail in hand... pure bliss. The service from Marvelous Egypt Travel was impeccable from booking to farewell. We're already planning our return trip!"
Everything you need to know before booking your Nile cruise
The best time for a Nile cruise is October to April when temperatures are pleasant (20-30°C). Peak season is December to February with perfect weather but higher prices. October, November, March, and April offer great weather with fewer crowds. Summer (May-September) is very hot (35-45°C) but offers significant discounts — early morning temple visits help beat the heat.
Most popular options are 3-night (Aswan to Luxor) or 4-night (Luxor to Aswan) cruises, covering all major sites. We recommend 4 nights for a more relaxed pace. 7-night cruises include return journeys with more time at each temple. For the ultimate experience, combine with Cairo for a 7-10 day Egypt tour.
Our packages include: cabin accommodation on 5-star cruise ships, all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), guided excursions to temples and tombs with certified Egyptologist guides, entrance fees to sites visited, airport/hotel transfers, and onboard entertainment (belly dance shows, Nubian music). International flights, tips, and drinks are NOT included unless specified.
For ultra-luxury: Oberoi Zahra or Oberoi Philae (world-class). For 5-star comfort: Movenpick MS Royal Lily, Sonesta Sun Goddess, or Jaz Senator. For intimate sailing: Dahabiya boats (7-16 cabins only). Budget-friendly: Le Fayan or MS Nile Story. We'll match the perfect ship to your preferences and budget.
Standard cruises include: Luxor area — Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon; En route — Edfu Temple (Horus), Kom Ombo Temple (Sobek & Horus); Aswan area — Philae Temple, Aswan High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk. Abu Simbel is an optional add-on (highly recommended!).
Yes! Nile cruises are excellent for families. Children love the onboard pool, watching the Nile scenery, and exploring ancient tombs. Our guides make history fun with stories and activities. Most ships have family cabins or connecting rooms. We recommend children aged 5+ for the best experience, though we can accommodate younger children with modified itineraries.
Nile cruise prices vary by ship class and season. Budget 4-star cruises start from £599 per person. Standard 5-star cruises range from £799-£1,299. Luxury cruises (Oberoi, Sanctuary) cost £2,000-£4,000+. Prices are for cruise-only; add £300-600 for return flights from UK. Our packages include all meals, excursions, and Egyptologist guides.
