We've wanted to visit Egypt for literally decades and kept putting it off. Finally booked for our 30th anniversary and I'm so glad we waited because I don't think we could've found a better company.
Mohammed (our guide) was absolutely brilliant — so knowledgeable but never boring or preachy about it. He had this way of bringing history alive that made you feel like you were there. My husband's not usually one for guided tours but even he said it was the best decision we made.
The Oberoi Zahra cruise was pure luxury. We upgraded from the standard boat and it was worth every penny. Waking up to sunrise over the Nile with coffee on our private balcony... I still get teary thinking about it.
Only tiny gripe — the Cairo traffic is mental and there's nothing anyone can do about it. But Ahmed our driver somehow kept us calm through it all!

Took our two boys (9 and 12) and was honestly a bit worried they'd get bored with all the temples. Couldn't have been more wrong. Our guide Fatma was amazing with them — she turned everything into a treasure hunt and taught them to read some hieroglyphics. They were showing off to their teachers when we got back!
The camel ride at Giza was probably their highlight (and the £2 souvenirs from the markets haha). Really well organised throughout, felt safe the entire time. Would definitely book again.
I'll be honest, the 4am pickup wasn't fun and it IS a long day. But seeing the pyramids with your own eyes... just wow. The photos don't do it justice.
Lunch was decent (buffet at a hotel near the pyramids), and our guide kept us moving without feeling rushed. Got back to Hurghada about 10pm absolutely knackered but with the biggest smile. If you're on the fence — just do it.
This was actually my third trip with Marvelous Egypt. First time was 2018 (solo), then brought my partner in 2021, and now we came back with her parents. Each time has been flawless.
What I appreciate most is they actually listen to what you want. Mentioned we'd done Luxor temple before and they suggested Valley of the Nobles instead — smaller crowds, incredible paintings, felt like a real discovery. That's the kind of local knowledge you pay for.
Highly recommend the Sonesta St George cruise if budget allows.
Mostly fantastic trip. The guides were all excellent and really knew their stuff. Loved the small group size (just 6 of us) and the hotels were lovely.
Why not 5 stars? The airport transfer on arrival was about 40 mins late which was stressful after a long flight, and there was a mix-up with our room in Aswan (they fixed it within an hour but still). Small things in the grand scheme but worth mentioning.
That said, the actual touring experience was brilliant. Abu Simbel at sunrise was probably the highlight of my life. Would I book again? Absolutely.

Was nervous about travelling alone in Egypt but these guys made it completely stress-free. Had my own guide (Nour — she was incredible) and driver throughout. Never felt unsafe or uncomfortable for a single moment.
The private tour meant I could go at my own pace — spent ages at the Egyptian Museum because I'm a bit of a history nerd lol. Nour was patient with all my questions and even helped me haggle at Khan el-Khalili (saved me a fortune!).
Splurged on the Four Seasons and it was divine. Highly recommend for any solo ladies thinking about it. You won't regret it.
Wanted something different after doing all the Cairo sites and Alexandria was perfect. The Bibliotheca is stunning — both inside and out. Lunch by the sea was a lovely touch.
Our guide Heba clearly loved her city and it showed. She took us to some spots off the usual tourist trail which we really appreciated. Back to Cairo before dinner. Great value for money.
Saved up for years for this trip and it did NOT disappoint. We're both in our late 60s and they were so accommodating with the pace — never rushed, always had water ready, vehicle was comfy with good AC.
Every single guide was passionate and well-informed. We particularly loved the Valley of the Kings (Ramses VI tomb was mindblowing) and the evening felucca sail in Aswan. Such peaceful memories.
The Mena House was magnificent — breakfast with a view of the pyramids! Never thought we'd stay somewhere like that. Thank you for making our retirement dream come true.
4 nights cruising then 4 nights in Hurghada — perfect combo! Kids (14 and 16) loved the snorkelling and us oldies got our history fix.
The cruise boat was lovely and food was actually really good — wasn't expecting that! Beach hotel was all inclusive which kept the teenagers happy. Great recommendation from the team to do it this way round.
Came specifically to see the new Grand Egyptian Museum and WOW. It's massive — could easily spend 2 days there. Our guide Omar paced it perfectly though, hitting all the highlights including King Tut's treasures.
The pyramids after was almost like a bonus! Standing at the base of Khufu never gets old though — this was my second time and still got goosebumps. Highly recommend.
Booked the budget option as a student and honestly didn't feel like I was missing out at all. Hotels were clean and comfortable, transport was reliable, guides were just as good as the luxury option (I assume!).
They worked around my tight budget and still gave me an amazing experience. Proof that you don't need loads of money to see Egypt properly. Would 100% recommend to anyone watching their pennies.
We've done the big cruise boats before and this time tried a traditional dahabiya. No comparison. Only 8 cabins, incredibly intimate, you actually feel like you're sailing (because you are!).
Stopped at smaller temples the big boats can't reach. Watched the sunset from the top deck with wine and cheese. Met lovely people from around the world. Pure magic.
Yes it costs more and takes longer but honestly worth every penny and every day. This is how the Nile should be experienced.
