Nile Cruise FAQs

Everything you need to know about cruising the Nile

What is included in a Nile cruise package?

Our Nile cruise packages include 5-star cabin accommodation, full board meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea), guided excursions to all major temples and sites with a licensed Egyptologist guide, all entrance fees, and airport/hotel transfers. Some packages also include domestic flights and extensions to Cairo or the Red Sea.

How long is a typical Nile cruise?

The classic Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan is typically 3-4 nights (4-5 days). We also offer 7-night cruises with more leisurely pacing and additional stops, as well as Lake Nasser cruises of 3-4 nights. Most popular is our 4-night cruise which covers all major sites including Valley of the Kings, Karnak, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Philae Temple.

What is the best time of year for a Nile cruise?

The best time for a Nile cruise is October to April when temperatures are comfortable (20-28°C). Peak season is December to February with perfect weather but higher prices. March-April and October-November offer great weather with fewer crowds. Summer months (May-September) are hot but offer significant discounts. Cruises operate year-round.

Is a Nile cruise suitable for families with children?

Absolutely! Nile cruises are perfect for families. Children love watching the scenery change, swimming in the pool, and exploring ancient temples. Our Egyptologist guides are experienced with families and make history fun and engaging for all ages. Most ships offer family cabins or connecting rooms, and kids under 12 often receive discounts.

How much does a Nile cruise cost from the UK?

Nile cruise prices from the UK start from approximately £799 per person for a 4-night cruise (land only). With flights from the UK, expect £1,100-£1,500 for standard 5-star cruises. Luxury cruises and dahabiyas range from £1,500-£3,500+. Prices vary by season, ship category, and inclusions. We can work with most budgets to create an amazing experience.

Can I combine a Nile cruise with Cairo and the Pyramids?

Yes! Our most popular packages combine 3 nights in Cairo (visiting the Pyramids of Giza, Sphinx, Egyptian Museum, and the new Grand Egyptian Museum) with a 4-night Nile cruise. This 8-day itinerary gives you the complete Egypt experience. We can also add Red Sea beach extensions in Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh for relaxation.

Is Egypt safe for UK tourists?

Yes, Egypt is very safe for tourists. The main tourist areas including Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea resorts have excellent security and tourism police presence. We provide 24/7 support throughout your trip and all our guides are licensed professionals. The UK Foreign Office rates most tourist areas as safe to visit. Egypt welcomed over 14 million tourists in 2024.
